Selection Priorities and a Balanced Budget
Budget is something we cannot ignore. We are fortunate to receive district support and in some schools a supplementary budget thanks to the volunteer efforts of students and surrounding community.Every school is unique and we cannot operate on a 'one size fits all' philosophy for we need to think about fair and equal if we truly wish to lessen the gap between 'have' and 'have not' schools'.
* The list below is a starting point. If we truly intend to reach the needs and interests of our learning community we need to address this topic with input from our learners, supporting community and colleagues. Ongoing conversations and opportunities to provide feedback must be exercised throughout the year.
Professional Development 30%
* Focus to be on implementation of technology in the classroom with support from non-enrolling teachers.
* Where are the costs? Guest Speakers, TTOC coverage and 'in house' mentoring sessions.
* What could this look like? Primary one year intermediate the next ?
* Who could be involved? Extended Community Supporters, classroom teachers, teacher librarians, learning support specialists, resource teachers, principals, early language specialists and cultural supporters.
Technology 20%
* More iPads to be added and updated each year with greater ease and wifi upgrades. Apple TV is a great tool for teaching and showcasing information. This technology is familiar in many homes and our learners need to use their devices for greater purpose.
Project Based Learning Furniture and Supplies 20%
* With a great focus of inquiry based learning, self-regulation and 'flipped' classrooms we need consider the needs of keen and disengaged learners. If we provide a variety of options our retention rates will improve and learning specialist will be able to truly perform as TRUE facilitators of learning.

- learning tables for collaboration, wiggle seats, head sets and stimulation for all sensory demands.
- construction tools & supplies for non- traditional mixed grade opportunities to problem solve, question, explore and create

* Who needs these resources the most? Classrom, Neighbourhood Centers, Learning Assistance, Resource, or Home?
* What can we do in the digital world to increase communication and address demands?
Literacy Support for Advanced or Mature Readers 10%
- Does our library address the growing interests and concerns of our pre-teen population?
- How can we support our keen and curious investigators and encourage them to share their findings and passion with others?
- Does our library provide embrace the global citizenship regarding?
- cultural differences
- sexual identity
- socioconomic differences
- balance between fiction and non-fiction
- Magazines in non-traditional reading spaces
- subscriptions to digital and print recources
